Shetland Smokehouse has announced the appointment of a new sales and marketing director. Terry Curran - a well-known face in both the seafood industry and in Shetland – will join the company on Monday (3 March).
Terry Curran lived and worked in Shetland for seven years, latterly as sales manager with Framgord, before taking up the position of sales director with Portsoy-based Gourmet's Choice in 2002.
Talking about his plans for Shetland Smokehouse, Terry Curran said: “I have a strong affinity with the Shetland Smokehouse brand, it is a great product that speaks for itself and I very much look forward to taking it forward.
“Establishing the Shetland Smokehouse range back into the local Shetland market is very important. I'm pleased to be spending at least half my time back in Shetland and plan to approach hotels, wholesalers, supermarkets and shops over the coming weeks to ensure that the product is as accessible as possible locally.
“My next aim is to have the Shetland Smokehouse range available in 10 countries throughout the world within the year. The European Seafood Exposition in Brussels in April will be key to consolidating the existing business and building up new export markets.
Confirming Terry's appointment, Shetland Smokehouse's managing director, Louie Paterson, said: “We are delighted that Terry is joining us. He comes with a wealth of experience in the seafood industry, working for companies in Shetland and the North East, and establishing markets all over the world. Terry will play a key role in building the Shetland Smokehouse brand and taking the business forward.
“As a refurbishment of the Smokehouse reaches completion and we embark on a recruitment drive, we very much hope that Terry's appointment demonstrates our commitment to the future of our business and the wider Shetland community.
